Ayurveda Day 2021
On 2nd November, 2021 the High Commission of India, Malaysia in association with Malaysian Association of Traditional Indian Medicine (PEPTIM) celebrated Ayurveda day at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose India Cultural Centre at Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur.
The theme for this year’s Ayurveda Day was “Ayurveda for Nutrition”.
The event kickstarted with a welcome speech by the the High Commissioner of India to Malaysia,His Excellency Shri B. N. Reddy, as he spoke of the significance of Traditional Medicine and Ayurveda in the present era. He elaborated various initiatives of the Ministry of Ayush, government of India to promote the practice and research in Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine. That ayurveda continues to heal in many ways by complementing it along with modern medicine. He emphasized that traditional medicine has always been an important area of collaboration between Malaysia and India with great potential for future cooperation.
Director of Traditional and Complementary Medicine Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia, Dr Goh Cheng Soon delivered the Keynote Address for the event. Amongst other matters, she highlighted Malaysia-India cooperation in promoting traditional systems of medicine. That the Government of Malaysia is undertaking numerous efforts to promote and streamline practice of various forms of traditional medicine in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Dr. CD Siby, Physician at Ayur Centrespoke about the importance of Ayurveda in Post Covid Recovery and Dr Anjali Rajeev, Chief Physician at Holistic Ayurose spoke of Nutrition and Lifestyle for a Healthy Life as per Ayurveda Principles. Dr Janany Pohoopalan, President of PEPTIM outlined the organization’s various efforts in promoting Indian traditional medicine in Malaysia. Vaithyar Appavu, one of PEPTIM’s Pioneer and Senior most Physician was felicitated at by the High Commissioner.
With this, the celebration concluded knowing that traditional Indian medicine will play an important role in the health of Malaysians with unlimited access in most towns and cities with the support of the Malaysian and Indian Government.
